How to Join

Membership of the Orange Family History Group is free! We meet upstairs in Orange City Library on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, except December, starting at 1.30pm and everyone is most welcome to attend.

We publish a Newsletter 3 times a year. It is available for free on our website. To subscribe   email us at familyhistory@orange.nsw.gov.au.

Members are encouraged to participate by becoming involved with projects including assisting people undertake research and helping with indexing projects. Because of the relationship with Central West Libraries all volunteers are required to complete Orange City Council’s Volunteer Application Form. Library staff can provide additional details.

Central West Libraries has created a new, special library membership category called Family History Researcher so that you may have access to the library’s online resources even if you live outside our area.

To join complete and submit the online form. We will post your activated card to you which will confirm your address.
A couple of tips you will need to follow:

  • choose Orange Library as the preferred branch
  • in the General Notes field at the bottom of the form, type Family History researcher so that we can identify you as distinct from other online joiners
  • your permanent membership number will authenticate access to online resources available by remote login (Ancestry and FindMyPast are only available onsite in our libraries)
  • if you live outside our area (Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes and Orange Local Government areas), reservations are unavailable but inter-library loans may be arranged via your local library service. These services incur a cost.

Welcome to our new online Family History researcher members.
